Abstract

One of the Indonesia’s land border areas is Sebatik Island, Nunukan Regency, North Borneo Province, which borders on Malaysia. This article aims to examine the gap between the expectation of the improvement of educational services and the reality that the quality of educational services is still lagging behind, in Sebatik Island. The point is highlighted by the question, “Why is there gap between expectation and the reality of educational development in Sebatik?” The research method used in this study is qualitative method. Data is collected through observation, interview, and media study. Result and discussion show that border area is seen as “the backyard” of the Republic of Indonesia. Thus, no wonder if the educational development in the border areas, which is still far from the center of power becomes marginal and left behind. In overcoming the backwardness of the border area of the Republic of Indonesia, a new regional government bureaucracy is formed, which is in the form of a district government and provincial government, namely the establishment of the North Borneo Province. Educational sector is still lack of classroom, teachers, and learning facilities, which become the problems in education in the border area between Indonesia and Malaysia, in Sebatik Island. It can be concluded that regional autonomy should be followed by giving the authority to the regional government in the border area in order to improve educational sector and sufficient fund for educational facilities as well as teacher and educational staff according to the need in the border area.

Abstract

Latar belakang karya tulis ini adalah permasalahan dalam pembelajaran IPS, selama ini proses pembelajaran IPS tidak menarik, kurang menyenangkan, dan cenderung membosankan. Hal ini menyebabkan kualitas dan hasil belajar siswa jauh dari harapan, karena itu perlu dilakukan penelitian tindakan kelas. Penelitian dilakukan dalam dua siklus, sumber data berupa data hasil observasi dan data hasil belajar. Pengumpulan data menggunakan dua teknik yaitu teknik tes dan teknik non tes. Analisis data dengan deskriptif komparatif dan secara kualitatif maupun kuantitatif. Hasil belajar yang dicapai siswa pada kondisi awal sebelum tindakan dilakukan diperoleh rata-rata ulangan harian adalah 64,5, siklus 1 meningkat menjadi 75,6, dan di akhir siklus 2 rata-rata ulangan harian 77,3. Sedangkan ketuntasan belajar klasikal meningkat dari 31,25% menjadi 75% pada siklus 1, dan meningkat menjadi 87,5% di akhir siklus 2. Berdasarkan data tersebut disimpulkan kualitas dan hasil belajar IPS meningkat setelah guru menerapkan model pembelajaran discovery learningdengan bantuan media pembelajaran TMII dan gambar keragaman etnik.

Abstract

Pembelajaran yang efektif sangat menentukan keberhasilan sebuah pendidikan. Efektivitas pembelajaran tidak terlepas dari sarana dan prasarana yang memadai tak terkecuali sumber belajar berupa buku atau media pembelajaran. Seiring perkembangan teknologi yang semakin pesat dibutuhkan buku referensi yang memuat berbagai macam informasi dalam satu kemasan. Bahan ajar interaktif POSDAHUT menjadi salah satu alternatif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan referensi yang memuat banyak informasi tersebut. Melalui penggunaan bahan ajar interaktif POSDAHUT dalam pembelajaran di kelas maupun penugasan di rumah di dapat angka efektivitas sebesar 84,26% dengan kategori baik. Angka ini menunjukkan bahwa bahan ajar interaktif POSDAHUT sangat efektif dalam pembelajaran di kelas maupun penugasan di rumah bagi siswa SMP Negeri 2 Wedarijaksa.

Abstract

The concept of community empowerment is the process of preparing the community with various resources, opportunities, knowledge, and expertise to increase the capacity of the community in determining the future, as well as participating and influencing life in the community itself. One form of community participation in RT 04 RW 01, Patemon, Gunung Pati, Semarang City in development is through a “jimpitan” program. “Jimpitan” is a tradition of community self-help program where the community voluntarily gives money or rice to the designated officers and usually the collection time is every day in conjunction with night watch patrols. This activity is an example of a village community empowerment program, where the community has an active role in working together to collect voluntary contributions and manage and process the results in the form of physical and non-physical development in their respective areas. In addition to utilizing money from the “jimpitan”, the collection process also has a positive impact, namely improving family attitudes and mutual cooperation in the community amid the rapid development of social media, creating harmony, peace, and increasing community participation in protecting and developing the environment. The tradition of “jimpitan” is very worth keeping because of the many positive effects it poses.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim to; 1) explore social conservation on the women habitus in eastern coast (Eastern Coastal Pantura) of Pati Regency; 2) identify the development of social conservation on the women habitus in eastern coast of Pati Regency. In addition, this study also provides knowledge and awareness to eastern coastal women in Pati Regency on the importance of social conservation efforts in the community. This qualitative research was carried out with a descriptive analytical approach. Data collection techniques used interview, observation and documentation techniques. The acquired data will be processed and analyzed with triangulation techniques to obtain valid data. The results indicate the data that women have a strategic position in social conservation in the eastern coastal communities of Pati Regency. Women are adaptive to social changes taking place around them, developing social conservation in their habitus in the family. Women in the family, through their parenting; transfer of values, typical traditions of coastal communities undergoing social change; maintaining harmony in the family in a dynamic society; follow, prepare and implement traditions, cultures that are routinely carried out in a society filled with symbols of tradition and beliefs. All of these that women are doing, without them knowing that they all have an influence on the sustainability of cultural traditions and beliefs in society, and continue to persist. Women are able to play a role in their field, accepting new doxas arising from the interaction of habitus and their field. Its development can be conducted in a structured way from the village level to the Dasawisma group through training and character education simulations, tracking traditions and local wisdom, and developing social intelligence for women. In this activity, the involvement of community as well as religious leaders and women in designing activities is very necessary.

Abstract

Media social helps and supports society to do their activities associated with interaction among them, such as government activity to create transparency in informatics. This development shows that social media become inseparable resource with great impacts. One of the social medias that is being used by government is Twitter that gives features like uploading pictures, making link or hashtag. This study is focused on the strategy of the government of Central Java province uses Twitter as media social by cooperating with Twitter Indonesia. The government of Central Java launces Twitter Kemala (Kelola Melantas Layanan) as a tool to optimized social media to increase the quality of public services in order to accommodate the society’s interests. Through hashtag #KemalaJateng, the people of Central Java can send their ideas, complains, supports and questions which will be directly responded and reported by the related agencies in the government of Central Java. The purpose of this study is to understand the strategy of the government of Central Java optimizing social media, Twitter, to carry out the obligation as public bodies according UU No. 14, 2008 about public information transparency. In this study the descriptive qualitative method was used in which Communication and Informatics Agency of Central Java and Twitter of Central Java province account was the subject of this study. The result shows that the government of Central Java able to optimized the Twitter Kemala Jateng by responding actively and quickly as their strategy to create good governance according the law.
